Messenger of the Night Original
"Messenger of the Night" is the first original of Victoria's 2024. The color scheme is dark and moody, but the pops of light make the piece come alive. It was made by adding layers of texture and color to add depth, giving it a unique personality. As the lighting changes, the mood of this piece changes. Under low light, the church and the moon seem to glow.
The meaning of this piece seems simple but was created with a deeper underlying message. At first glance, one would believe the "messenger" would be the crow sitting atop the grave. The messenger is the church in this piece, which is the main carrier of the most important message in all of human history - the good news of Jesus Christ. The source of hope, even through death. The blood red roses growing over the cross grave symbolizes the blood of Jesus covering us and giving eternal life to those who believe in Him as their Savior. The crow sitting on top of the grave looks towards the church, with it's wings and back being highlighted by the warm glow of the radiant church.
Carved into the gravestone is Isaiah 25:8 which says, "He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken." The church is the messenger carrying the name of the one who conquered sin, death, hell and the grave. Jesus is the only source of hope and our true salvation.
